Gum tinting and Enigma Teeth
Gum tinting is a special cosmetic touch up to a denture that makes the pink part of it appear much more natural. Especially if have a high line smile and show a bit of gum. :-D
F/P
Full upper and partial denture. Little irregularities definitely add to more natural look. The teeth should be set up in a way so no-one knows you are wearing false teeth!
Upper and lower immediate dentures
A full clearance meaning all natural teeth were extracted and replaced with upper and lower denture
Tooth appeal!
A well designed denture can dramatically improve your looks and can take years off your face!
Limited dexterity and dentures
In some cases , especially with the patients who have limited dexterity, the dentures need to be designed as self cleaning and easy to maintain as possible.
A free first consultation and a suitable referral if required. Always here to help.
An immediate upper denture.
Patient had a total upper clearance, which means all his upper teeth were extracted and the denture was fitted straight after the surgery. He also presented with an enlarged maxillary torus which luckily did not affect the suction of the denture in this case. The front gap between the teeth, also called diastema, was left at a patient’s request.
Overdenture
An overdenture is a denture, the base of which covers one or more teeth, prepared roots (or implants). The roots will remain in the ridge and maintain the height of it. The dentures of this kind should be very carefully designed.
P/- acrylated
An aesthetically pleasing acrylated (plastic) denture. It has metal hooks but is designed in a way so the metal does not show.
Full upper denture
A full upper denture with a little diastema (gap) between front teeth. Natural looks.
Dental Prosthetist
Being a dental prosthetist is an extremely satisfying job!
Some dental prosthetists (like myself) are also dental technicians (commonly referred to as dental mechanics) which means apart from seeing the patients in the clinic they can also construct denture work in the lab. Double bonus!
F/F Full upper and lower denture
A refreshed look where the new dentures look much more natural!
From immediate dentures to permanent
After the full extractions you will get a set of dentures that replaces your teeth and promote the healing by preventing you from bleeding or getting a dry socket. These are called immediate or temporary dentures. After when you heal and your swelling goes down they can either be relined or replaced. Reline helps the fitting of the dentures - a thin layer of acrylic is added to your dentures to improve the fit of the dentures. The new set of dentures normally improves the looks as the teeth can now be tried in before proceeding to the final stage of denture fabrication.
Recycling the existing cobalt chrome framework
You can recycle your metal framework and set up new teeth. Talk to your dental prosthetist about this option! Before (upper photo) and after (the photo on the bottom), new teeth set up on existing metal framework
F/- a full upper denture
A full upper denture set up against a lower natural dentition might sometimes present a problem called a combination syndrome. The lower natural teeth will have more force and might put extra pressure on the upper ridge (dislocating the denture sometimes) and contributing to a flabby ridge. Your patient needs to be educated on potential complications.
P/-
Many of my patients are in Aged Cares and Nursing Homes, some of them might suffer from dementia or limited dexterity due to Parkinson’s for instance. When I make dentures for those patients I need to make sure they are easy to insert and remove (but not too loose either!). A great challenge! :-)

Clear clasps on a cobalt chrome denture (commonly called a titanium denture)

A total immediate clearance. It does take a while to get used to wearing the dentures but every day it gets a bit easier. Persevere and see your dental prosthetist for an extra support. You can also join Denture Support Group: Australia & Wordlwide - a free support denture groups created by DenturePoint.
Make sure you have your dentures cleaned professionally at least once a year but preferably every 6 months. If you don’t they become a harbour for pathogens and bacteria no matter how hard you you try to keep them spotless with your standard cleaning routine.
Flexible denture
